The receptionist was friendly and so was the vet but the wait was for 30 mins when it was an emergency and he was getting worse and he sadly died as the vet was checking him maybe if the wait was not as long he may have survived.
This vet (whom I have now registered with) have been fantastic for me today. After my current vet closing last week and my dog with cancer taking a serious turn for the worst last night, I needed to get her to a vet ASAP. I researched local vets near me and found this practice who not only seemed to have great facilities, but also that I could book an appointment online for the next day (today-Saturday 29th Dec). Having never been there before I did not know what to expect, but they were wonderful! I registered with them quickly and easily when I got there and was seen quickly by a wonderful vet who was so kind and understanding. He really helped me through the difficult time of having it confirmed that my furbaby had to be put to sleep. I was devastated, but the vet talked me through it and was so understanding, making my beautiful baby comfortable and helping me be with her and talk/stroke her during her passing. They allowed me to stay as long as I liked and to bring my other dogs in to say their goodbyes. The receptionist staff were also great, offering me tissues and even a cup of tea, which I just couldnt face. I just want to thank them all for being so wonderful with a brand new patient facing one of the worst times any pet owner has to go through. Thank you
Our family dog had been under the care of another vet, it was clear that she was extremely unwell and needed to been seen fast. We called the normal vet and they wanted us to wait 10 hours. We where aware that the most likely out come of the next visit to the vet would result in her having to be 'put to sleep' but we couldn't watch her suffer for another hour never mind 10. My Vet, where called and the situation explained they told us to come straight in. It was a very difficult time for the whole family, the staff helped us from the second we arrived. The assistants and vet where with her as soon as we arrived, tests where done immediately and with care and compassion. The outcome was as we had expected. We where with our four legged family member as she peacefully drifted away. We used MY VET at a very difficult time but would recommend their care and compassion to any animal lovers. Make sure it's your vet, not just any vet for a pet!
DIRTY, INCOMPETENT, LACK OF COMMUNICATION, AWFUL MANNER, AWFUL SERVICE - When my young dog collapsed and went limp at a family party we rang the closest emergency vet. Unfortunately we were so worried that we didn't take time to see the reviews of this vets and we just took her to them as quickly as we could. When we got there the receptionist was friendly. When we went for the consultation the table had at least 3 different types of animal hairs on it, the vets scrubs were filthy and he strongly smelt of stale cigarettes. As I was so concerned over the health of my dog, I didn't think it was worth bringing it up as I just wanted to know what had happened to her and what the next steps would be. The vets first language wasn't english which usually wouldn't be an issue but when it comes to describing what has happened in an emergency it's important that both parties can communicate. When we mentioned she could have eaten icing from the cake, he though we said hyacinth (the plant) - it also meant that he didn't go into detail about what could have caused the collapse as he was struggling to pronounce the medical terms, and we left more concerned and confused than when we arrived. I explained this to the nurse and she explained what he had tried to tell us more eloquently than he could. On top of this, when he was examining my dog, he didn't reassure her or us and he was just forceful manipulating her head and limbs. I then explained to the receptionist that I wasn't very happy and that the whole experience had just added to the worry we already had for the health of my dog. We were then offered to speak to the vet again, he told us that they were too 'busy' to wipe the table and he didn't smell of smoke because he didn't smoke, but after a little longer he told us that he did smoke sometimes and that it's not against the law to smoke. I was told that the manager would ring me on two separate occasions and I've still not had a phone call. We went to our own vets the day after where they explained that our dog has had an anaphylactic shock. The my vets vet said that it could have been hyperglycaemia, which even a google search showed didn't match the symptoms - if there wasn't a language barrier, maybe he could have understood the symptoms we were trying to tell him. I genuinely can't believe that he is allowed to practice. The service was supposed to be 120 but the receptionist waived the fee.
They offer the best possible care for all pets, and will not hesitate to bring in one of their specialists for specific cases - e.g. We brought in a roborovski hamster who it turned out had a tumour - they brought across a specialised vet in small animals who excised the tumour and he made an excellent recovery. Cannot praise the care offered by the team both at Clayton and our nearest surgery, Clitheroe.
